Edibles get more first-time customers in trouble than any other format. Not because they are stronger, they aren't, but because they are slower. The two rules that matter: start low, and wait.
Onset and duration
How long until I feel it?
45–90 minutes for most adults. Empty stomach: closer to 45. After a meal: closer to 90. THC drinks onset faster, sometimes 15–30 minutes, because they bypass digestion.
How long does it last?
Four to six hours of primary effect. Some adults notice residual effects up to 12 hours. Edibles convert THC into 11-hydroxy-THC in the liver, a longer-lasting metabolite than inhaled THC.
Dose tiers
- 1–2.5 mg THC · micro-dose. Functional, day-time-compatible for most adults.
- 2.5–5 mg THC · starter dose. The right first-time dose for most adults.
- 5–10 mg THC · moderate. Comfortable for regular users.
- 10–25 mg THC · high. For experienced consumers with established tolerance.
- 25+ mg THC · experienced consumers only.
Format choices
Gummies
The most dose-precise format. Every piece is a known mg. Easy to split (we sell low-dose pieces at 2 mg). Most consistent onset.
Chocolate
Slightly slower onset, often longer duration. Some adults find chocolate more pleasant to take routinely than gummy. Fat content slows absorption, and intensifies it.
Drinks
Fastest-onset edible, 15–30 minutes for most adults. Useful for evenings out where flower or vape would be inappropriate. Dose precisely. Drinks blur into a meal in a way pieces don't.
Tinctures
Technically a sublingual rather than an edible, but worth mentioning here: 20–45 minute onset, very dose-precise, often used as a daily-routine format rather than a session format.
An edible at the right dose is the most graceful way to use cannabis. An edible at the wrong dose is the loudest mistake.
What we recommend for first-time edible users
A 2 mg gummy. Eat it after a small meal. Wait 90 minutes before deciding anything. If after 90 minutes you want more, add 2 mg more. This is unglamorous, but it is the reliable way to learn what your body does with cannabis.
